On 2 September, the Skills Alliance for Ukraine brought together representatives of Ukrainian institutions and international partners for an online workshop on financing adult re- and upskilling in Ukraine.

The discussion focused on how skills development can better respond to Ukraine’s labour market needs and help address the country’s shortage of skilled workers. Participants reviewed existing Ukrainian mechanisms for adult training, discussed how skills needs can be better matched with available resources, and explored approaches to funding re- and upskilling used in Germany, the Netherlands and Croatia.

The workshop also provided a space to discuss how different funding sources and investments in skills can be better aligned and co-financed to support employment in Ukraine, and how the Skills Alliance can facilitate cooperation between Ukrainian institutions and international partners in this area.
