Adventist Development and Relief Agency

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) has been established in 1956 and restructured under its current name in 1984. Headquartered in Silver Spring, Maryland, ADRA operates in more than 120 countries, delivering relief and development assistance to individuals regardless of their ethnicity, political affiliation, gender, or religious association. The agency focuses on four key areas: health, education, livelihoods, and emergency response. By partnering with local communities, organizations, and governments, ADRA implements culturally relevant programs that build local capacity for sustainable change. The organization holds General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), enabling it to participate in discussions on innovative thinking and sustainable development. ADRA is committed to empowering disadvantaged populations, responding to crises, and fostering resilience in communities. Its work is supported by a global network of staff, volunteers, and partners dedicated to creating positive and lasting change.

In the Skills Alliance for Ukraine, ADRA is represented with one project:

• The REACH Project targets host communities, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and returnees in Dnipro and Poltava oblasts, with a focus on livelihood restoration, psychosocial support, and reconstruction of civil infrastructure. The livelihood component assists primarily IDPs and host community members through income-generating activities.

• The vocational training component will support, including women, youth, men, and people with disabilities who have lost livelihoods or become new household breadwinners. The training will focus on practical skills for employment or self-employment. Women will receive training in fields such as administration, bookkeeping, culinary arts, and cosmetology; men in welding, construction, plumbing, or automotive repair.

• To support sustainable income generation, the project will also provide essential production assets tools, equipment, materials, or agricultural inputs lost during the war or needed for new business startups.
