It also promotes ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices, helping businesses adapt to the green and digital economy. As part of its broader mission, BDO Ukraine also works to attract international investment to support the country’s recovery by offering practical guidance, risk management strategies, and business insights for foreign partners.

In the Skills Alliance for Ukraine, BDO is represented with one project:

• The “AI Training to Boost Capacity in Ukrainian Cities” project provides AI tools to quickly enhance of municipal employees’ skills for better absorption of external funds and sustainable development at the local level.

• BDO in Ukraine, as a leading advisory firm, identified municipalities and local authorities as important actors during Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction process. While having extensive experience working with international donors and financial organizations, the first few attempts to contact local municipalities for potential investment projects showed a problem of unreadiness to receive external financing. English language proficiency, low project management skills, and lack of grant-writing experience were major concerns. BDO has developed a quick and efficient AI prompt to help with: analysing grant requests; preparing grant applications; translating from English while preserving formatting; and enhancing general digital and AI literacy.

• All these prompt examples were tested with focus groups and developed in compliance with GDPR. The interest from municipalities was significant. AI will not replace local municipal staff, but if used correctly, it may be a quick solution to attract external financing and help municipalities rebuild better.

As of May 2025, 431 beneficiaries have been trained through the AI Training to Boost Capacity in Ukrainian Cities. This includes 293 women.
