Deutscher Volkshochschul-Verband e.V.
DVV International is the Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Association (DVV). DVV represents the interests of the approximately 850 adult education centres and their state associations, which are the largest adult education providers in Germany. As the leading professional organisation in the field of adult education and development cooperation, DVV International has supported establishing sustainable structures for youth and adult education worldwide for more than 50 years.
The Representative Office of DVV International in Ukraine started its operations in 2010 with the purpose to promote adult education as a key to public welfare and sustainable development. The organisation fosters adult education on three different levels: the micro level (educational measures for adult learners), the meso level (assistance to develop stronger organizational structures of adult education providers and their networks), and the macro level (advisory services on sector policy and public advocacy work). Together with its partners, DVV International in Ukraine develops educational programmes for adults in various areas, including vocational training and entrepreneurship, civic education, culture and creativity, ecology, and health.
In the Skills Alliance for Ukraine, DVV International Ukraine has been represented with two projects:
• Professionalisation of Adult Education Providers in Ukraine, which aimed to strengthen the capacity of adult education providers in seven regions of Ukraine in order to meet the educational needs of vulnerable groups.
• Reintegration of War Veterans through the Creation of Educational Opportunities, which aimed to support 2,100 veterans and their family members in seven regions of Ukraine so that they would receive counselling, guidance, and training in vocational and business skills.
At the time of project completion, 9,016 beneficiaries had been trained. This includes at least 7,244 women.
