Power Women

The full-scale war in Ukraine has created a critical labor shortage in the energy sector due to the  mobilization of male electro-technical specialists, threatening the stable operation of power plants and the country’s energy security. At the same time, the sector continues to face a lack of skilled professionals, persistent gender imbalance, limited access to clear educational opportunities, and high unemployment among women.

Launched in 2025, the Power Women project addresses these challenges by providing free training for women in renewable energy power plant operations and maintenance in Ukraine. The project is implemented by Scatec, FMO, IFC, Swedfund, Elementum Energy and Edera, with the support of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

The program combines theoretical and practical training, site visits to renewable energy facilities, leadership development sessions, and career counselling. Power Women aims to strengthen energy resilience in Ukraine, empower women to enter the energy sector, increase gender diversity, support the green energy transition, reduce unemployment, and build a strong community of women professionals in energy.
