RePower Ukraine

RePower Ukraine Charitable Foundation is a charitable organization founded in late 2022 by Ukrainian renewable energy experts. With the support of partners in the energy sector, the foundation cooperates with municipalities in the regions most affected by the war. As of the end of February 2026, 11 projects have been implemented to build solar power plants with energy storage systems for hospitals and two water supply facilities.

One of the organization’s main areas of activity is educational initiatives. Thanks to the Solar Start and Solar ReStart projects, 128 veterans, their family members, and internally displaced persons have acquired the necessary skills to design or install solar power plants.

About 30% of graduates found jobs in the solar energy sector or started their own business. Training becomes a stepping stone for participants in adapting to a peaceful life, helping them feel needed and form a new professional identity.

The foundation’s educational initiatives also help to overcome stereotypes regarding women’s involvement in traditionally male-dominated professions. 22 female graduates successfully completed the theoretical and practical parts of the training and demonstrated high motivation, perseverance, and a desire to participate in the restoration of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Another area of RePower Ukraine’s activity is promoting the development of a workforce ecosystem in the renewable energy sector. Launched in early 2025, the initiative helps establish cooperation between the State Employment Service, vocational education institutions, renewable energy companies, and civil society organizations.

The foundation’s team conducted consultations, assessed the labour market, and identified barriers to recruiting new specialists for the renewable energy sector. Particular attention was paid to creating practical employment pathways and opportunities for synergy between the State Employment Service, educational institutions, and employers.

As part of the project, a Map of Opportunities was developed and posted on the foundation’s website. It is an interactive tool for searching for educational institutions in the field of solar energy and related fields. The map includes both short-term and long-term training programs, so everyone can choose a convenient format and take a step towards a career in the renewable energy sector.

Since building up professional human resources is a long-term thing, the foundation runs educational programs for teens. Through lectures on renewable energy, students learn about career benefits, modern jobs, and real ways to grow in this field. This approach helps young people make informed choices about their education, see energy as a promising, technological, and socially important industry, and develop an ecological mindset and a conscious attitude toward resources.
