UN Development Programme

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) plays a pivotal role in international development as a knowledge broker, capacity builder, innovator, and facilitator of exchanges in the global development debate. UNDP connects countries to the knowledge, resources and networks they need to achieve development breakthroughs. UNDP’s work is summed up in six signature solutions, adapted to context and powered by three potent enablers for greater impact. UNDP’s specialized global policy centres enable access to substantive expertise and connectivity with external networks and resources. Responding in an integrated and coherent manner, we are determined to end poverty and hunger, protect the planet from degradation, ensure that all people have prosperous lives, with growth that occurs in harmony with nature, and to foster peaceful and inclusive societies. UNDP is committed to mobilizing the means to implement the 2030 Agenda through a revitalized global partnership for sustainable development, based on a spirit of strengthened global solidarity.

In the Skills Alliance for Ukraine, UNDP is represented with two projects:

• Short-term reskilling and upskilling courses in various professions for the adults aimed at the rapid provision of the skilled workers required by the current labour market and raising the employability of the war-affected population; and

• Repairs, renovation, and equipping of selected VET institutions to allow them to provide modern education and training services.

As of May 2025, 109 people have been trained through short-term reskilling and upskilling courses across the Volyn, Vinnytsia, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv regions. This includes 58 women.
