Wheeled Vehicle Repair Mechanic

Vinnytsia city, Center for Vocational Education No. 1.

Success story is provided by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH

“The knowledge gained during the training is very valuable for the development of our business and scaling up the farm. In the future, me and my husband plan to provide jobs for people. We dream of living in our country and relying on ourselves”

Liubov and Dmytro are a couple from Vinnytsia. Long before the full-scale war, the couple developed a love for machinery and mechanisms. Liubov has experience working in an auto parts store, and Dmytro has “golden hands” that are good with metal. The man worked on machines, as a turner, and even made profiles for furniture.

When the terrible events began in February 2022, Dmytro volunteered to defend the country. He returned from the war this spring, full of motivation to work for the good of his family and country.

At some point in this search, the couple decided to start their own business. And now they are farmers. They grow corn. So far, they do everything on the field manually, but they plan to buy their own agricultural machinery and maintain it themselves. To do this, the couple needed to acquire a thorough knowledge of vehicle repair.

When Liubov found out about the training for car mechanics, she was very excited. Liubov and Dmytro did well during the course of their studies. Without exaggeration, this training has also become a place of recovery for Dmytro. The man says that constant communication with other participants, being busy during the training, working with new tasks and working in the field helped him calm his anxiety and structure his own desires.

The couple says that war definitely toughens each of us. There is fear and pain. But at the same time, there is faith in our own strength. That is why Lyubov and Dmytro do not give up but are faithfully building their joint better tomorrow.

Training was supported by Multi Donor Initiative Skills4Recovery
