On 18 March 2026, the Skills Alliance convened a peer-to-peer exchange in Kyiv, bringing together private-sector companies and Skills Alliance members to explore how employer-led training can help address Ukraine’s skills and labour shortages. The event took place in a hybrid format, with participation both in Kyiv and online.
A total of 15 companies and business associations joined the exchange, alongside representatives of the Skills Alliance network, creating a space for practical exchange and new partnerships in skills development.
The morning workshop session, dedicated to private-sector participants, featured concrete examples of company-led training initiatives. Representatives from Caparol Academy, Voith Hydro School and Sigma Software University shared how their programmes are designed and implemented in practice.
Participants then discussed what makes training programmes effective, highlighting the importance of aligning training with labour market needs, working closely with training providers, and integrating workplace-based learning. The session also introduced new opportunities for companies to engage in Skills Alliance-supported projects, including potential partnerships and pilot initiatives.
Discussions underscored the central role of companies in shaping relevant vocational education and training. Investing in upskilling and reskilling was highlighted not only as a response to workforce shortages, but as a strategic approach to increasing productivity and supporting innovation in Ukraine’s economy.
The event continued with a networking session, where companies connected directly with Skills Alliance members offering cooperation opportunities, leading to new contacts and potential collaborations.
Overall, the exchange demonstrated growing private-sector engagement in skills development and reinforced the Skills Alliance as a platform for knowledge exchange, partnership-building and joint action to support Ukraine’s economic recovery.
